State-Supported Intercity Passenger Rail Services
State-supported passenger rail services—currently 32 Amtrak routes located across the country—are services of 750 miles or less that run partially or fully on territory separate from the Northeast Corridor (Boston to Washington). Every year they carry nearly 15 million riders, generate a $4.4 billion economic impact, and are supported by $900 million in State contributions through ticket revenue and direct payments to Amtrak.
